The Degree I got Yesterday June 10, 2026 

All of that, to come to understand the messes in life. All that to understand, “sometimes you're just a single mother struggling through school and work”. The mess is a byproduct of putting others before yourself, not the other way around. (Finishing the Father's Day gifts by hand laminating 25 “DAD” shaped cards after work at 7pm, left an unbelievable mound of rolled up and semi-rolled up laminate backing papers all over your living room floor, as you had to be early into work the next day)  

Your place is a bloody disaster.  

And maybe you're just a single mother trying to get your degree with no support, no encouragement, a full-time job, devotion to God, and a bleeding heart for helping people you’ll never get a reward for helping. Maybe you're an overachiever, not an underachiever. Constantly pushing and berating yourself to do better, relentlessly ignoring your needs. So one day you'll get it right. 

Tormented by your imperfections. 

Madly in love with people who don't reciprocate.  

And then just trusting God that something will work out, that things will pan out (someday?) - God's face will shine on you at some point in your life.  

So maybe the mess in your life isn't a neglectful oversight, a result of being a dirty single mother; it's a chasm some choose to ignore because they're so busy loving so many people. Allocating time for those grand, pertinent, and weighty things. That donation to the Indigenous education fund, Indspire, that you produced at graduation did not come from nowhere. So ya your place is messy, but your love shows. So beat yourself up less, keep the dream alive, and wait on the Lord.   Sometimes a messy life is Just a by product of a life lived for love. Skipped the curation. 4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean:but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

A statistic gets a degree  

Ya, that statistic is me. 

The way the world looks at me as a number  

This degree steals their thunder, the impact of  “their” perspective of me   

Does it steal a bit of me back? Not just their perspective  

But my perspective of me to me by me
